In addition to its role as a trainer, the T-28 was successfully used for <strong>Combat missions<\/strong> It was used primarily as a counter-insurgency aircraft (COIN) during the Vietnam War. Its robust construction and adaptability made it a valuable tool in conflicts. The T-28&#039;s top speed is an impressive 611 km\/h (330 kts), making it a powerful aircraft for its time.<\/p>\n<p>An interesting story is that the T-28 also <strong>the first fighter aircraft of the communist North Vietnamese<\/strong> was. How so?<\/p>\n<p>In 1963, Lieutenant Chert Saibory, a Thai pilot, defected to North Vietnam aboard his Royal Laotian Air Force (RVNAF) T-28. Saibory was promptly arrested before later being assigned as an instructor in the North Vietnamese Air Force (NVAF). The aircraft was overhauled and deployed as the North Vietnamese Air Force&#039;s first combat aircraft. Lieutenant Saibory trained Nguyen Van Ba, who scored the NVAF&#039;s first aerial victory on February 15, 1964, against a South Vietnamese Air Force (RVNAF) C-123 Provider.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, the T-28 was used by the South Vietnamese Air Force (RVNAF) to support ground operations and also played a role in the Secret War in Laos.
